
Sainik School Nagrota, Jammu & Kashmir is a residential Public School inaugurated on 22 Aug 1970 by the then Defence Minister Late Sh Jagjivan Ram. The Founder Principal was Cdr NN Seth. The school campus is located 18 kms away from the nearest railway station Jammu Tawi and linked with Jammu-Srinagar Highway (NH-1A). The lush green campus is situated at Nagrota in Jammu on the banks of river Tawi and spread over 108 acres of land, comprising playgrounds, courts, obstacle course, mini-stadium, administrative and academic blocks, infirmary, primary wing, hostels, cadets’ mess, guest house, auditorium etc.

Sainik School Nagrota aims to prepare cadets—academically, mentally, and physically—for entry into the officer cadre of the Indian Armed Forces through the National Defence Academy (NDA) and other training academies. It emphasizes developing qualities of body, mind, and character to shape responsible citizens; promoting conduct, team spirit, dedication, patriotism and a desire to serve the country; and imparting value-based education to uphold noble virtues in life.
To prepare boys academically, physically, and mentally for entry into the officer cadre of the Armed Forces, particularly through the National Defence Academy (NDA), Pune, and other career paths. To develop qualities of body, mind, and character in young boys, molding them into good and responsible citizens. To promote conduct such as good character, team spirit, dedication of purpose, patriotic outlook, and a desire to serve the country. To impart value-based education, encouraging cadets to stand firm, act uprightly, and practice noble virtues in life.
